6/6/24… Friday & Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery would be in action at Placerville Speedway. The weekend kicked off on Friday with Kaleb running with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Then on Saturday, they put the 410 in & he would take on the NARC 410 Sprint Cars.
He kicked the night off with time trials, where he’d be the 17th car to hit the track in his Group. Despite going out late, Kaleb would lay down a solid lap. He’d put down a time of 11.053 which was enough to time him in 10th quickest in the group.
That set him up to start in the 5th spot for the heat race. From the 5th spot, Kaleb was able to make his way forward. He would gain a pair of spots, going from 5th to 3rd & locking into a transfer to the feature event.
“Friday night started off mild. We qualified middle of our group making us start 5th in the heat. From there we capitalized on opportunities to run 3rd in the heat!”
Heading into the feature, Kaleb started out on the inside of row seven in the 13th starting spot. Kaleb would be able to stay around the outside of the top-10. Continuing to try & get comfortable, he’d grab a pair of positions & go on to finish the feature in the 11th position.
“We started in the middle of the pack for the feature and ran there. The track was really great with two lines but I just wasn’t comfortable yet.”
Saturday got off to a similar start to Friday. He would go out early on Saturday & looked for a better time in the 410. He was able to make his way inside of the top-10 in time trials as he would time in 7th quickest in his group.
Going into the heat race, Kaleb rolled off from the inside of row two in the 3rd spot. After a mistake on the heat race, Kaleb was able to hold onto a transfer spot. He’d come home in the 4th spot & make his way to the feature.
“Saturday we started off the same as Friday, average as hell. In the heat race we tried some set up changes & it gave me the feeling I was looking for. I screwed up the heat but felt like I had the car to win and improve my starting position.”
Locking straight into the feature, Kaleb started on the inside of row eight in the 15th spot. He quickly went to work & started to make his way forward. Kaleb was able to battle his way up to 9th & would finish there to end the weekend.
“We started 15th in the main and motored forward a couple spots up to 9th. I could’ve payed attention to the track more and passed more cars but we didn’t. I learned a lot and looking forward to carrying this momentum towards Petaluma.”
It was a pretty good weekend for Kaleb in Placerville. He was able to grab a top-10 & was one spot away from grabbing two of them. Kaleb will be back in action on Saturday Night in Petaluma with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
