5/23/24… Tulare, California: Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery was back in 410 action. With 26 cars in attendance the competition was tough for the Tulare Thunderbowl season opener with the NARC 410 Sprint Cars.
The night started out with time trials. He was the 20th of 26 cars to hit the track & didn’t get the lap that he wanted. With a time of 14.911, it was only enough for Kaleb to time in 13th quickest overall in qualifying.
Going into the heat race, he started on the inside of row three in the 5th spot. Starting 5th, it was tough to pass & Kaleb didn’t have much luck. He’d hold onto the 5th spot, but wasn’t able to gain any spots & would finish in 5th.
Kaleb went into the feature & rolled off from 13th. The green fell but quickly went yellow again as Tanner Holmes would spin in front of Kaleb leaving him nowhere to go. He’d get damage to the front wing & come to a stop.
He went to the work area under the next red & they’d change the front wing on the car. Kaleb hit the track & tagged the back of the field. Not much happened after that, as Kaleb only made his way back up to 18th where he’d finish the feature event.
“Tulare had a slower start than I would’ve liked. I didn’t qualify the best & that put me starting 5th in the heat & finishing there. Started the feature in 13th & Tanner (Holmes) spun in front of me & I hit joey causing me to spin as well. From there we fixed my nose wing & went back out there. We didn’t do a whole lot of anything after that but onto the next weekend.”
It wasn’t the night that they wanted, but Kaleb was able to get some solid laps under his belt in Tulare after they hadn’t raced there since last years Trophy Cup.
