Kaleb Montgomery Shows Speed in Tulare Ahead of Trophy Cup!

By: Chris Santos

10/18/22…Hanford California: Friday Night, Kaleb Montgomery and the Keller Motorsports Team would make the trip to Keller Auto Speedway to run the Anthony Simone Classic with the KWS NARC 410 Sprint Cars. A really strong field of 31 Winged 410 Sprint Cars would be in the pit area ready to roll on Friday Night.

Kaleb would get his night started out with single car qualifying. He would be the second car out but unfortunately would struggle. The Templeton California driver would end up 22nd quick out of 31 Sprint Cars. “With the 410 at Hanford I didn’t get the qualifying I wanted because of my choice in lines but everyone makes mistakes.“

That would line him up on the inside of row 3 in the 5th spot for his heat race. Starting 5th Kaleb would hold his own and fall into line in 5th. He would end up finishing there and going to the B-main. “Held my ground in the heat.”

His heat race efforts would line him up with a front row starting position for the B-main. Starting 2nd Kaleb would get to the lead and never look back. He would go on to win the B-main and make the feature event. “Transferred out of the B to the main.“

The main event would see him line up from the 21st position on the inside of row 11. He would end up having issues that would force him to pull off in the feature early and bring his night in Hanford to an end. “In the main we had some throttle issues and pulled off early.”

Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery and the Keller Motorsports team would make the trip to the Tulare Thunderbowl, this time with a 360 under the hood to prepare for the Trophy Cup. A very good field of 31 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in attendance for the Roth Classic, getting ready for this coming weeks Trophy Cup!

Kaleb would roll out in the first group for single car qualifying. That seemed to be an advantage as he would lay down a super quick lap that put him QuickTime overall out of the 31 Winged 360 Sprint Cars that were in attendance. “In the 360 at Tulare we went quick time.“

Next up was the heat race where he would line up on the outside of row 2. Starting 4th, Kaleb would get to the 3rd spot and run there for the rest of the heat. When the checkered flag fell he would finish 3rd and make the redraw. “I did my job in the heat to transfer out with a 3rd place.”

He would end up pulling the 6 for the redraw which would start him in the 6th position. Early on he would fall back as he seemed to be rusty. However Kaleb would get back going and quickly get to battle with Justin Sanders and DJ Netto. He would battle with both drivers for a few laps.

Finally he would get to 6th again and try and reel in the leaders. However he would run out of time and end up finishing in the 6th position. “Pulled the 6th pill for the main and finished there. Took me a while to get my balls back and run the curb hard but I’m ready for tcup!”

It was a solid rebound on Saturday from a tough night Friday. Kaleb seems to be heading in the right direction going into Trophy Cup and was able to get some very valuable laps in Tulare.
