6/21/23… Ventura, California: Saturday Night, Kaleb Montgomery would make a rare Non Wing appearance in Ventura for the Wasgdash Race with the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Cars. Kaleb would bring home a 6th place finish in the feature & win the special ‘Wasgdash’ race.
Kaleb started the night out with qualifying, where he was the 8th of 31 cars to hit the track. He ended up laying down a very good lap. That lap put Kaleb 2nd quickest overall against a very strong field of Non Winged 360 Sprint Cars.
“At Ventura we started out the night with a solid 2nd quick.“
That lined Kaleb up starting 6th in heat number two with the 6 car invert. Starting 6th, Kaleb quickly began his charge forward. He sliced his way through the field, grabbing the lead & going on to win the 2nd heat race from 6th.
“Started 6th in the heat and drove our way to the front to win.
He would start the feature from the 5th position. Early on he would get to 4th. As they got into lap traffic, Kaleb made his way to the 3rd position. On the last lap, Kaleb would make a mistake. That caused him to fall back into the 6th spot where he finished.
“In the feature I started 5th and was running around in 4th for most of the race. In lap traffic I got up to 3rd and tried a cool guy move around a lap car and fell back to 6th on the last lap.”
After the feature, they ran a special ‘Wagsdash’ race. Kaleb started on the pole as they inverted the first 6 finishers of the feature event. He went on to lead all 12 laps & capture the special race.
“We started pole of the wags dash and lead all 12 laps to pick up the 3500 pay day! I love running nonwing and I was very happy that I got to do it again this season!”
It was a very good night for Kaleb in the Non Wing. He continues a solid 2023 season as they have been very active this season across all of California.
