Kody Barksdale Takes Home Top-10 Driving For Kyle Shipley

By: Chris Santos

10/5/22… Indianapolis Indiana: Sunday night, Kody Barksdale would hop aboard the number 0G to run for Kyle Shipley for the final Circle City points race. It was a great group of cars to end the 2022 season at Circle City Raceway.

They would start the night out with qualifying however, right before they would go out, they noticed the right rear tire was low. They hurried to change it. Unfortunately, they would not do so in time and miss qualifying.

“We pushed off for engine heat  and we're back in the pits letting it build temp. Right before we went out for qualifying we noticed the right rear  was way low. So we hurried to change The tire and didn't get out in time. So we didn't get a qualifying time.”

Missing qualifying, Kody would have to head out and start at the back of the heat race. With not much passing Kody would have some troubles in the heat race moving forward, and when the checkered flag would fall, he would finish in the sixth position. “Started last in the heat got up to 6th. Not much passing.“

That would set Kody up for a 16th place starting position in the feature event. It was a very tough track to race on as it was really dusty. Kody would nearly pull off at one point however, despite the vision issues because of the dust and the sun, he would come home in 10th and end his season fourth in the Circle City points.

“Started the feature in 16th. Track was so dusty and the sun was on the drivers eyes we just rolled around..he almost pulled off because it was so dusty and the sun was on his eyes. It was a race of attrition and we wound up 10th”

It was a good night for Kody despite a ton of issues. The team would rally from the qualifying issues to bring home a top 10 finish, despite the vision issues that oplague most of the field in the feature.

Kyle would like to thank his sponsors; Lifestyle Homes.
