8/10/23… Knoxville, Iowa: Thursday & Saturday Night, Kyler Johnson was in action at Knoxville Raceway for the 360 Knoxville Nationals. It would be a rough weekend for Kyler, which ended in the D-main event on Saturday Night.
Thursday Night action saw Kyler take on a strong field of 50 Winged 360 Sprint Cars for his prelim night. He would be the 41st of 50 cars to hit the track for time trials. Battling a very tough field of cars, Kyler timed in 47th quick overall.
He would lineup for the heat race from the outside of the final row in the 10th spot. Starting that deep, Kyler just needed to gain as many spots as possible. He would put together a solid heat race, as he gained two spots & finished in the 8th spot.
Kyler wound up making it into the B-main, where he started on the outside of the tenth row in the 20th spot. Starting deep, Kyler had to get moving if he wanted to make the feature. When the checkered flag fell, he had moved forward. However, it was only one night & he finished in 19th.
Going into Saturday, Kyler was slated to roll off in the E-main. While it wasn’t where he wanted to start, he had the opportunity to rip off some more laps & get comfortable. Kyler took advantage of that, as he went from 4th to 2nd in the E-main & finished there.
That would put Kyler in the D-main where he rolled off from the 18th spot on the outside of row number nine. Once again, he would have his work cut out for him as he started deep in the D-main. Unfortunately, this is where his night ended as he finished where he started in the 18th spot.
It was a tough weekend for Kyler in Knoxville. They weren’t able to run the engine they wanted & were never able to get into a rhythm. They will be back in action on the 25th of August with the ASCS National Sprint Cars.
