8/17/23… Placerville, California: Saturday Night, Luke Hayes made the trip to Placerville Speedway. He would be in action with the Thompson’s Winged 360 Sprint Cars where he ended up bringing home a 14th place finish.
Luke opened the night up with qualifying. When he hit the track, he was the 23rd of 25 cars to hit the track. Going out late, Luke was still able to put down a good lap. A time of 11.126 put Luke 11th quickest overall in qualifying.
That lined him up on the outside of the front row in the 2nd spot for the heat race. Starting on the outside of the front row, Luke would try & get the win in the heat race. Unfortunately, he fell backwards & would have to settle for a 5th place finish in his heat race. That put him in the B-main where he started on the outside of the front row. After starting 2nd he slipped to 3rd but held on to the 3rd spot & transferred to the feature.
After grabbing a transfer spot from the B-main, Luke would be slated to line up on the inside of the tenth row in the 19th spot. Starting deep, Luke would try to stay out of trouble while also moving forward. He would be able to gain a handful of spots, moving to 14th where he finished the feature.
He would have a rough start to the night, but was able to rebound & salvage a decent finish. A tough heat race would set Luke back, but he was still able to bring home a top-15 finish & roll the car into the trailer.
