11/29/23... Merced, California: Last Wednesday Night, Luke Hayes was in action at Merced Speedway. It would be the final Winged Sprint Car race of the season & potentially Luke's final race of the 2023 season.
He got the night started with a solid qualifying run. Luke would be the 13th of 28 Winged 360 Sprint Cars to hit the track for qualifying. Going out around mid pack, he was able to put down a good time. A time of 10.660 was enough to time him in 12th quickest overall.
He'd go out for the heat race where he'd roll off from the outside of the front row. Unfortunately, his night would take a tough turn. Luke would end up having some issues that brought his heat race & the night to an unlucky end.
It was a tough way to end the 2023 race season. Luke had some solid speed on Wednesday & was on track for a strong finish. Unfortunately, the issues would bring his night & season to an early & unlucky end.
