Max Mittry Impresses in Busy 2022!

By: Chris Santos

12/14/22… Fast Time Media: This season, Max would continue to run a busy schedule across the West Coast. This time it would include the full 2022 NARC 410 schedule. They decided to make a run at the points & take a big step in their 410 program.

The 2022 year began with a lot of 360 racing for Max. That would be highlighted by a pair of top-5’s including a podium at Ocean Speedway. Max would finish 3rd on April 1st with the Ocean Speedway Sprint Cars Presented by Taco Bravo.

His NARC season would begin at the Stockton Dirt Track where he would impress in his first 410 run. Max would make some solid laps & show good speed before bringing home a 12th place finish to kick off the NARC year.

Max would continue his good start by putting together some consistent runs through the month of April. That would be capped off by a 7th place finish at Silver Dollar Speedway in a 410 for the Brownell & Herseth Classic.

In the month of May, Max would run 8 races as the NARC schedule would get busy. However, in those 8 races, Max would finish in the top-10 five times & never finish outside the top-15. That would be highlighted by a 6th place NARC finish at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford.

They would make the trip up to the Pacific Northwest in June to run the Dirt Cup at Skagit. Once again, Max would show why he is one of the top young drivers on the West Coast, making the feature 2 of 3 nights & only missing the feature because of a blown motor. That would also be the first time he missed a feature all year in a Winged Sprint Car.

July would see Max have some struggles. The month would start off with a 6th place finish in Chico on the 4th of July, followed by a 7th place finish on July 15th in Watsonville. After that Max would finish outside of the top-15 for the rest of his July schedule.

In August, Max would have some solid results, as he would bring home two top-10’s, and an 11th place finish. His best finish of the month came in Placerville as he would charge from the back to an 8th place finish.

September would be the best month of the 2022 season for Max. It would start with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion of the Gold Cup, where he would nearly win it & come home with a podium finish, finishing 3rd.

That would be followed up by a very impressive run with the World of Outlaws at the Gold Cup Race of Champions. His preliminary night would see him finish 8th out of 32 cars. Then on the Saturday finale, he would spin early while running up front, but charge forward to a 15th place finish out of over 60 cars on the weekend.

His month would be capped off with the Fall Nationals & the makeup Tyler Wolf Memorial. Max continued to stay consistent as he would make the feature both nights, finishing in the 10th spot on night one, and the 7th spot on night two.

October would be the toughest month of the season. He would struggle at the Cotton Classic, as he would miss the feature. The next night Max would rebound for a 7th place NARC finish. However, the following weekend would see him have engine issues on Friday in Hanford & get upside down on Saturday in Tulare.

The biggest race of the year on the West Coast is the Trophy Cup. Max would make the feature event on Night one & finish 19th on a rubber down track. Night two would end early as he would have some unfortunate issues. Saturday would see the bad luck continue as he would hit the wall in his heat race & finish 15th in the B-main.

Max would close out his year at The Stockton Dirt Track. He would get back to his consistent ways as he would take home an 11th place finish to end the year. On top of that, he would earn the NARC Rookie of the year honors.

No word describes Max’s season better than ‘consistency’. Max would rarely miss a feature all year, which in most cases was due to issues out of his control. The Mittry Motorsports team will look to build off of that consistency in 2023 as Max still looks for his first ever win.

Max’s 2022 stats: 45 features, 0 wins, 3 top-5’s, 20 top-10’s
