Max Mittry Makes Thursday Night Feature at Trophy Cup 28!

BY: Chris Santos

10/25/22…Tulare California: Thursday Night, Max Mittry and the Mittry Motorsports team would make the trip to the Tulare Thunderbowl for Night 1 of the 2022 Trophy Cup. A very strong and deep field of 86 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in attendance for Night number 1!

Max would start his night off with qualifying, where he would be the 2nd car out in Group A for qualifying. He would lay down a decent lap that would put him 23rd quick out of the 43 cars in Group A and barely make the invert.

That would roll him off from the front row of his heat race. When the green fell he would grab the early lead. With the lead in hand, he would drive away and win the heat race, locking him into the Thursday Night feature. “Won the heat which was cool, put me in the A.”

In the feature Max would roll off from the 22nd position outside of row 11. In a tough feature Max would race hard trying to keep the car out of that treacherous Tulare wall. When the checkered flag fell he would finish in the 19th spot. “Started 22nd and finished 19th. Nice rubber down race track so we will get back at it tomorrow.”

Friday Night, Max and his team would return for Night 2 of the 2022 Trophy Cup. Another great field of 84 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would be in the pit area ready to roll looking to put themselves in a good spot in the points going into the Saturday Night show.

Max would be one of the very last cars out for qualifying and would end up struggling. He would be the 41st car out in his group out of 42 and it would hurt him. He would end up going 39th quick out of the 42 cars in the group and he would get behind the 8 ball from the jump.

He would then roll off from the 44th spot in the D-main. However that’s when his night would come to an end. After taking the green flag, he would roll around in the back for a few laps before pulling it into the infield and calling it a night.

Saturday Night, Max would enter the night sitting in the 30th position in points. Another stacked field of 75 Winged 360 Sprint Cars would pack the pit area trying to capture that all so elusive Trophy Cup title. They would get straight into the heat races with no qualifying for the night.

He would line up on the outside of row number 2 in the 4th position for his heat race, needing to go forward to gain points. Unfortunately around halfway through the heat race, Max would get into the wall and break his car, bringing his heat race to an end in the 8th position.

That would line him up on the inside of row 6 in the 11th spot for the B-main. Starting 11th, Max would need to get to the top-4 to make the feature. Unfortunately he would end up falling to 15th position where he would finish the B-main and bring his Trophy Cup to an end.

Overall, it was an up and down weekend for Max and his team. They would make the feature on Thursday before his night ended in the D-main on Friday. Saturday he would have some solid speed but his bad luck continued.

Max would like to thank his sponsors; www.mittryconstruction.com, Shark Racing Engines, Arai Helmets, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Fast Four Media, 24hour Roadside Service, and Justin Sanders Racing.
