Montgomery Takes On Four Races in Eight Days!

By: Fast Time Media

9/12/23… Placerville, California: Last Saturday Night, Kaleb kicked off a stretch of four races in eight days in California. Kaleb started the stretch out in Placerville for Night one of the NorCal-Posse shootout.

He started the night in Placerville by timing in 8th quickest overall. The heat race saw him start 5th, but fall to 7th where he finished. Kaleb would barely make the feature & roll off from 20th. Starting 20th, he began to charge forward & would make his way up to 8th where he finished the night. He would be scheduled to be in action on Sunday for Night two of the NorCal-Possw shootout, however it would get rained out & end the weekend.

Fast forward to Wednesday, Kaleb would make the trip to Silver Dollar Speedway to kick off the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. He started the night off with time trials, where he was the 7th of 14 cars in his group to hit the track. Unfortunately, Kaleb struggled in qualifying & times in 12th quick in the group.

Kaleb would have to go to the Non-Qualifier where he started on the pole. On the initial start, Kaleb fell to 2nd, where he would finish. That put him in a heat race but he would start deep. As he started 12th, Kaleb would charge forward. With a few cautions going his way & making some good moves, Kaleb was able to move forward to the 5th & final transfer spot & finish there.

That put Kaleb in the 20th starting spot for tbe feature. As he started deep, he would look to continue to chanrge forward. Unfortunately, Kaleb would have damage to his nose wing early, and it would make it hard to pass. After starting 20th, Kaleb made his way to the 16th spot.

Despite not moving forward in the feature, Wednesday had big implications on the SCCT points standings. Points leader Justyn Cox battled bad luck & wouldn’t make it out of the C-main. That would allow Kaleb to close the points gap. After Wednesday, Kaleb now sits just 4 points behind the points leader.

“Wednesday night was the 360 side of Gold Cup & we sucked in qualifying. Started pole & ran second in the non qualifier race. In the heat we put on a charge from 12th to 5th,” Kaleb continued. “Unfortunately in the main we had a flat nose wing resulting in us not moving forward in the feature.”

Next up for Kaleb was his preliminary night for the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. He started the night off with time trials, where he once again couldn’t get the lap he wanted & timed in 13th quick. “On Thursday for the outlaws we didn’t qualify that good again.”

Kaleb went out for the heat race & rolled off from the 3rd spot. After starting 3rd, Kaleb would finish there where he started. That put him starting 12th for the feature event. Most of the race, Kaleb would hold on to the 12th spot. He would make a last lap pass & was able to get into 11th.

“In the feature we started 12th and got by Noah gass on the last lap getting us to 11th.”

Saturday rolled around & Kaleb entered the night 23rd overall in the Gold Cup points. With no qualifying, they jumped straight into heat races where Kaleb would start 5th. Only four transferred to the feature, so he would need to get moving. Unfortunately, he finished where he started in 5th & came up just short of the transfer.

That put Kaleb into the Last Chance Showdown where Kaleb started in the 4th & final transfer spot. As the green flagged dropped, Kaleb would begin to slip back. He would try & get back into the final transfer, but fell back to 8th where he finished.

“In the B-main, we started in a transfer spot & slipped back to 8th resulting in us not making the main.”

It wasn’t the ending to the weekend that Kaleb wanted, but he was really good all weekend. In the 360 he was able to salvage a good points night & closed the gap to 4 points. Then with the Outlaws he brought home an 11th place finish on Thursday & came up just short of making the big show on Saturday.

Kaleb would like to thank his sponsors on the #3; Luxton Real Estate, Bullseye, and David Crye.
