7/11/24… Marysville, California: Wednesday Night, Drake was in action at Marysville Raceway. It was their 4th of July show as Drake entered the night with the points lead & would face a strong field of competition.
Drake kicked the night off with time trials where Drake looked to lay down a strong lap. He wasn’t able to get the lap that he wanted & ended up timing in 7th quickest overall.
Entering heat race action, Drake was slated to start his heat race from the pole. On the initial start, Drake would fall back to the the 2nd spot. From there, he’d hold onto the spot & went on to finish the heat race in 2nd.
“We headed into marysville for their 4th of July show with high hopes of extending our point lead. Struggled in qualifying a bit & ended up 7th. Started pole of the heat, & the top of the track was better. I fell back to second & stayed there to finish the heat.”
Going into the feature, Drake started on the outside of the fourth row in the 8th starting spot. He went to work & began moving forward. Drake was able to make his way up to 4th. Unfortunately on a restart, Drake would lose power in the motor & that brought his night to an early end.
“I started 8th in the main, & quickly went to work to put myself up to 4th. On a restart, the motor completely lost power & we pulled in. It wasn’t the best night, but luckily we still have the points lead.”
It was an unfortunate ending to what was going to be a solid night for Drake. He didn’t have the start to the night he wanted but he was charging forward before losing power in the engine & ultimately having an early end to his night.
