Nick Robfogel Has Tough Ending to Hunt Series Race in Antioch!

By: Fast Time Media

8/3/23… Antioch, California: Saturday Night, Nick Robfogel was back in action at Antioch Speedway with the Joe Hunt Series. Coming into Saturday, he brought in a 16 point lead but a tough ending to a good run would change that for Nick.

The night got started with qualifying, where Nick was the 4th of 26 Wingless Sprint Cars to hit the track. The track would be tough on Saturday Night & Nick wasn’t able to lay down the lap he wanted. He timed the Robfogel Racing #3 in 10th quickest overall out of 26 cars.

Nick went out for his heat race & lined up on the outside of the front row. He needed to win his heat race to make the redraw. Nick would try different lines, as he tried to figure out what worked. He ended up finishing the heat race in 4th.

“Qualified not that great in the 10th. I needed to win the heat race to get to redraw. I started the heat race outside front row, tried different lines to see what would work. Ended up finishing 4th because i was looking for a good line.”

Going into the feature, Nick would have his work cut out for him as he rolled off from 10th. When the green flag fell he methodically worked his way forward. Despite it being tough to pass, Nick found himself in 3rd when the white flag came out.

Unfortunately, on the final lap Nick would get driven through & that brought out a caution. He had to go to the back & it would be a one lap shootout to the finish. Nick ended up battling back to 14th, but that was all he was able to salvage as he finished the feature event there.

“In the main I started 10th & methodically worked my way to 3rd on a locked down bottom groove track. Took the white flag running 3rd and Going in to turn 1, another driver decided to drive through me, taking us both out of contention. Then we both started in the back of the field for a one lap dash to finish.”

Nick was frustrated to say the least after an unfortunate ending to his night. He battled his way forward & had another podium finish in his sights before being taken out.

“I am extremely frustrated to put in all the hard work on and off the track to get taken out by a non series regular on the last lap.”

Despite a tough ending on Saturday Night, Nick continues what has been an impressive season. This was the first time he has finished outside the top-5 all season.

Next up for Robfogel Racing is Saturday Night at Cycleland Speedway for Brody Robfogel!

Nick would like to thank his sponsors; RCS, Empire Automotive, Tony Maestri w/state farm, and Apex contractors.
