Nick Robfogel Opens Up 2023 Season With Podium in Antioch!

By: Chris Santos

4/18/23... Antioch California: Saturday Night, Nick Robfogel would open his 2023 race season in Antioch with the Hunt Wingless Series. A very strong field of 35 Wingless Sprint Cars would be in the pit area to kick the season off.

Nick would get his night going with qualifying as he would be the 13th car to hit the track for single car qualifying. Nick would end up laying down a pretty solid lap, and that would end up putting him 10th quick overall.

"Unloaded pretty balanced and qualified 10th going out early as the track was only getting better and better."

That would set Nick up to line up in the 2nd starting position in his heat race. Starting 2nd, Nick would fall into line in 2nd & he would try & reel him in. He would end up reeling him in & throwing a last corner slider. Unfortunately he would be left with no room & fall back to 3rd where he finished.

"I ran second for all of the heat race and through a last lap slider for the lead on the last lap and the crossover left me no room and moved me back to third."

In the feature, Nick would start on the inside of row six in the 11th spot. Starting 11th, Nick would start the race off cautiously. He would fall into line on the bottom which would be the dominant line. He would slowly pick cars off & found himself in a battle for 2nd in the closing laps. Nick would end up coming home 3rd to start the season off.

"Started the main in 11 and was cautious for the first half of the race. With only one racing line it made passing cars challenging," Nick stated. "I would manage to pass a few cars and mostly just keep my nose clean & make may way to third where I was involved in a three car battle for second on the closing laps."

Overall, it was an impressive way to start the 2023 race season for Nick. He would unload with a brand new car & motor & would instantly show a ton of speed against a tough field of cars. Then he would come home with a podium in 3rd!

Next Race: 4/22, Petaluma Speedway, Randy Larson Memorial

Nick would like to thank his sponsors; RCS, Empire Automotive, Tony Maestri w/state farm, and Apex contractors.
