8/8/23… Watsonville, California: Friday Night, Ryan returned to action in California after a couple weeks of racing in Washington. Ryan would put together a solid night at Ocean Speedway that was highlighted by a 9th place finish.
Ryan started his night out with time trials, where he was the 12th of 22 cars to hit the track. He went out towards the middle of qualifying and was able to lay down a good time. That time would put the 16 year old 12th quickest overall.
He lined up on the pole of his heat race, needing to win it to make the dash. Unfortunately, Ryan would have a tough heat race. After starting 1st, Ryan fell back to 6th & ended up finishing the heat race in the 6th spot.
When the feature rolled around, Ryan would get his qualifying time back & roll off from 12th. Starting 12th, it would be a long caution filled feature. It ended up lasting over an hour & even had an open red. When the checkered flag finally fell, Ryan was able to go from 12th to 9th & finish there.
It was a long & up & down night for Ryan. He started off timing in well, but struggled heavily in the feature. Despite that, he rebounded & finished 9th after a long caution filled feature.
