Seth Standley 5th at Ocean Speedway!

By: Fast Time Media

5/2/24… Watsonville, California: Friday & Saturday Night, Seth Standley would be in action for two nights of Sprint Car Racing. The weekend started out on Friday Night at Ocean Speedway & ended on Saturday at Kings Speedway.

Friday Night started out with time trials where Seth was the 9th of 13 cars to hit the track. He ended up laying down a time of 11.648 which was enough to go 3rd quick. From there, Seth started his heat race from the pole & went on to finish in the 3rd spot.

Seth then started the feature in 6th. Early on he was sharp & making some good moves. He was able to get to 4th & looking for 3rd. Unfortunately, he’d get into a lap car & ended up falling backwards to the 5th spot where he’d finish.

“The night was off to a great start, by going 3rd quick in a small field of 13 cars. I started pole in the heat & got a decent start, but got drove around in 1 & 2 by the car that started on the outside. I ran a decent race after but got passed & ended up 3rd. In the feature, I started 6th. I put down good laps & found myself in 4th & all over the 3rd place car, until we hit lap cars. I made a mistake trying to pass the lap car and fell back to 5th where I would finish.”

Saturday Night, Seth was in action at Kings Speedway. He started out the night with time trials where he was one again fast. Seth was able to time in 9th quickest overall. That lined him up to start on the outside of the front row of the heat race. He didn’t get the start he wanted & quickly fell back to 4th. Seth battled hard, but spun off the track & ended up finishing 8th.

Going out for the feature, Seth had his work cut out for himself as he’d roll off from the 23rd starting spot. He continued to show off his speed & began picking cars off. Unfortunately, he’d again spin off the track & have to go to the back. With two to go, he restarted 19th but gained four spots & ended up finishing 15th.

“We had another great start to the night, by timing 9th. The car didn’t take off on the start the heat & by the time I came out of the first corner I was already back to 4th. I had a good battle going on for 4th, until I slid off the track going in to 3 & lost all of my spots with 2 laps to go, so I ended up 8th. I started dead last in the feature. The main ran hot, & with a restart with 2 laps to go I found myself in about 19th. I took advantage of the restart & ended up passing 4 cars in 2 laps to finish 15th.”

Overall, it was a solid weekend for Seth getting more laps on tracks he has limited seat time at. He grabbed another top-5 finish on Friday Night & then showed off some solid speed on Saturday at Kings Speedway.

Seth would like to thank his sponsors; SALCO Better Energy, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Yuba City Scrap and Steel.
