Seth Standley Rebounds For 6th Place Finish in Marysville!

By: Fast Time Media

6/5/24… Placerville, California: Friday & Saturday Night, Seth Standley was in action in Northern California. Friday he was in action at Placerville Speedway with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Then on Saturday he was in action at Marysville Raceway with their weekly points series.

Friday started out with time trials for Seth. He was the 18th car out in his group for time trials. Going out late in the group, the track had slowed down. He ended up laying down a time of 11.153 which was enough to go 14th quickest in the group.

Heat Race action saw Seth roll off from the inside of row four in the 7th starting spot. Starting deep in the heat race, Seth went to work. He’d begin to battle his forward to a transfer spot & ended up finishing the heat race in the 5th & final transfer spot.

“I was the 3rd to last car out in qualifying & the track went away, but I still went 14th quick. This put me 4th row inside for the heat race. I got a good start & a few good restarts & found myself in the 5th & final transfer spot. The track was a one lane follow the leader track, so I ran the rest of the race in 5th & transferred straight to the show.”

Going into the feature, Seth started on the inside of row ten in the 19th spot. Early on he was able to roll the bottom & move all the way up to the 12th spot. Unfortunately, the bottom would go away & he’d lose a pair of spots, going on to finish 14th.

“In the feature, I started 19th, & I was able to roll the bottom pretty good & move forward to about the 12th spot. The bottom went away at the end of the race, so a few cars passed me & I ended up 14th.”

Saturday Night got off to a much better start at Marsyville Raceway. Going out for time trials, Seth would lay down a very good lap. He was able to time in Quick Time against a larger field of 25 Winged 360 Sprint Cars.

Going into the heat race, he started on the outside of row two in 4th. From there, he quickly would get to the 3rd spot. Once in 3rd he’d feel in 3rd but wouldn’t force it in order to not make a mistake. Seth would hang on to the 3rd spot & would settle in there to make the redraw.

“We finally had a great start to the night, going quicktime out of a large 25 car field. This put me second row outside in the heat race. I found myself in 3rd after the first lap, & was all over the 2nd place car. I played it smart instead of making a dumb decision & possibly wrecking the car trying to get around him, so I finished 3rd.”

After pulling the one in the redraw, Seth rolled off from the pole with his brother on the outside. After a good start, Seth was in 2nd but still had his brother Drake in his sights. He drove it deep in the corner but ended up spinning out. Seth would have to restart 20th, but was able to drive his way back up to finish in the 6th spot.

“We had a good, even start, & after going through one & two he kept his momentum up higher & drove around me. I then shuffled into 2nd, but was still right there going into there & four. Going into one on the second lap, I drove it in hard & right through the middle & spun myself out. After going all the way back to 20th, I battled my way through on a one lane racetrack to finish 6th.”

It was a good weekend for Seth. He had a solid night on Friday with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour at Placerville Speedway. Then on Saturday, he had a car that could battle for a win but made a mistake. Luckily, he salvaged a 6th place finish.

Seth would like to thank his sponsors; SALCO Better Energy, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Yuba City Scrap and Steel.
