Tough Break End’s Night in Marysville For Seth Standley!

By: Fast Time Media

8/17/23… Marysville, California: Saturday Night, Seth Standley returned to action at Marysville Raceway against their Winged 360 Sprint Car series. Seth would have a fast car at the end of the night when it mattered, but would have a tough ending to the night.

Seth kicked the night out by timing in 12th quick against 20 Winged 360 Sprint Cars. His car would be tight in qualifying, making it hard for Seth to lay down the lap he wanted. A lap of 13.002 would be enough to time Seth in 12th quick.

His qualifying time would line him up on the pole of his heat race. Seth didn’t get the start he wanted & quickly slipped back into the 2nd spot. After falling in line, he would hold onto the 2nd spot on a one laned race track & finish th heat race in the 2nd position.

“The night didn’t start the way we wanted it to, with us being the 2nd car to hit the track for qualifying. I struggled a tight car in qualifying and managed to go 12th out of 20 cars,” Seth stated. “This set me to start pole of the heat race, and I didn’t get the start I wanted so I fell back to 2nd immediately and ended there on a one lane racetrack.”

That put Seth starting 11th for the feature event. He was the fastest car on the track all race. Seth quickly began to move forward. He made his way to 2nd & began to reel in the leader. Unfortunately, in turns 3 & 4 Seth’s car would bounce through the corner. That would cause damage to the car & in turns 1 & 2, the car would bounce again but this time he would spin. Seth collected another car, and that would bring Seth’s night to an unfortunate end.

“In the feature I started 11th, and quickly got to work. I was up in to second and was the fastest car on the track no doubt. In 3 and 4, I was tracking down the leader but the car started hopping badly which resulted in a right rear bar going bad. This made the car harder to drive, & in turns 1 and 2 the car hopped again which sent me around, collecting another top 5 car and ending our night.”

Unfortunately, it was not the ending to the night that Seth wanted. He would have a car that was definitely capable of taking home the win. However, it should be a boost of confidence for Seth as he now gets ready to take on Oregon in the coming week!

Seth would like to thank his sponsors; SALCO Better Energy, Swimming Pool Perfections, and Yuba City Scrap and Steel.
